Between March and May 2017, Stephanie Smith made over twenty life-sized skin map paintings. Working on heavy weight lining wallpaper in soft pastels, charcoal, inks and acrylic medium. Naked, in-front of a six foot drop of paper attached to her studio wall, she mapped the physical sensations in her body as she stood and moved and drew.

Each piece was built up over a number of sessions, stood or crouched in a chosen pose.

All the resulting marks were made without my seeing what she did, in direct response only to the physical stimulation experienced at the time.
